Hermes Strengthens Asia Pacific Team with New Business Development Hire

Hermes Investment Management (“Hermes”), the £30.8 billion manager, has today announced that it has extended its Asia Pacific business development team with the appointment of Mr Tai Watanabe as Business Development Assistant Manager, Asia Pacific. Mr Watanabe will be based in Singapore at Hermes’ Asia headquarters and will report to Jakob Nilsson, Head of Asia Pacific and Business Development.

With more than 10 years of research and sales experience in the investment banking and asset management industry in Asia, Tai will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of Hermes Asian Pacific sales and distribution strategies across both its Asian institutional and wholesale businesses. As a member of the business development team, Tai will play an integral role in helping the team drive Hermes’ regional business expansion and reinforce its commitment and presence in the region.

Tai joins from JP Morgan Chase Bank where he was Sales Support and Back Office Team Leader for FX clients based in Singapore. Prior to which, he supported on the Global Commodities Sales & Trade team, as well as the Listed Futures & Options Clearing and Settlements team, at Barclays Investment Bank Singapore. Tai has also held various roles in Japan with Sawakami Asset Management and Credit Suisse Securities. Tai holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Denver, where he completed a dual-major in finance and economics.
