Hermes Investment Management, the £36 billion manager, has announced the expansion of its global fixed income team, with the appointment of Carina Spitzkopf as a Director for Private Debt. Carina will be based in London and work across the private debt platform. The fixed income team, which covers the liquid credit, private debt and real estate debt markets, is now 27 members strong.
In her new role, Carina will help to develop the Hermes business globally within the private debt market, providing in-depth company analysis, industry due diligence reports and comprehensive financial modelling. Before joining Hermes, Carina was a Director for UBS, where she covered leverage finance risk and portfolio management of the firm’s leveraged loan book in EMEA. Prior to this, Carina worked across leveraged finance, credit and risk roles at Barclays, Commerzbank and Dresdner, where she developed strong experience in both execution and structuring deals.
Patrick Marshall, Head of Private Debt and CLOs, Hermes Investment Management commented: “We are excited to welcome Carina to the team. She brings deep experience of the German SME loan market, which will be instrumental in our growth story this year, as we see ever-increasing deal flow coming out of Germany. Similarly, her understanding of structuring deals will be a valuable asset as we continue to grow our private debt platform and look to successfully tap the expanding opportunities in UK and European direct lending.”
Andrew Jackson, Head of Fixed Income, Hermes Investment Management added: “It has been an exciting growth period for the fixed income team at Hermes. Carina’s appointment follows a number of new hires across the platform, including Nachu Chockalingam as a Senior Emerging Market Debt Portfolio Manager in the liquid credit space. Last year also saw us expand our product range with a number of new launches, including the European Direct Lending Fund, where Carina’s knowledge of market dynamics will support an already skilled team.”
