EOS at Federated Hermes is continuing to move corporate purpose forward. Most recently, we have partnered with the University of Oxford and the University of California Berkeley on The Enacting Purpose Initiative (EPI). This global project looks at how to put the purpose of organisations into practice, drawing on practical knowledge and insights from company chairs and executives, as well as academic research. The first report from the EPI contains valuable insights into how boards and senior executives can govern their organisation’s purpose, including a new governance framework called SCORE.
Covered in a Financial Times article, Hans-Christoph Hirt, our Head of EOS said “A framework is critical for shareholders to gauge how companies are defining their “purpose” and then how that impacts their decision-making process”. We are looking forward to sharing our insights from the report and pressing companies to adopt the framework through our engagement.
