From the US-China rivalry to Brexit and climate change, investors are faced with stark choices. In this episode of Amplified, Saker Nusseibeh, Chief Executive and Eoin Murray, Head of Investment explain why looking further ahead to assess truly long-term risks and dynamics in societies is essential. As political and economic storms come and go, strong underlying forces are giving rise to new sides of the stories that define our times – and investors need to capture them.
Discussing whether China could transition from being an export driven economy to that of a consumer, Saker says “I can’t see how that can happen quickly…you cannot change a country of that size overnight…It is still primarily an exporting country and that remains intact. There is a growing consumer class but that is not going to be in the same way as we have it in developed western societies nor is it going to happen quickly.”
