Amplified: Investing in Europe - diamonds in the rough

The case for investing in Europe today.

In this episode of Amplified, Aoifinn Devitt, Head of Investment of Hermes Fund Managers Ireland Limited, and Martin Todd, European Equities Portfolio Manager, discuss the case for investing in Europe today, some of the challenges and opportunities that the region presents, and question some of the prevailing narrative to uncover some hidden opportunities.

Martin says: “we are seeing a lot of innovation across sectors, from industrials to health care and to financials, just not necessarily all in public markets yet.”

Discussing the topic of climate change in Europe, Martin says: “European companies recognise that the world is going to look very different in 5 or 10 years from now and if they don’t start trying to make changes to innovate and adapt their businesses now, then they could be left behind. This is where European companies are very well positioned for what is going to be a rapidly changing global economy.”
