Highest status of accreditation under UK Government Disability Confident scheme

Federated Hermes Limited has been awarded Disability Confident Leader (Level 3) status, the highest tier of the UK Government’s programme to help employers recruit, retain and develop disabled talent. The scheme has three levels: Committed (1), Employer (2) and Leader (3) and requires employers to complete each stage before progressing.

Federated Hermes Limited achieved its Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) accreditation in 2023. Members firms of the scheme are required to complete each level in the scheme before moving on to the next.

Our DEI Strategy 2023–2026 set out our commitment to becoming a Disability Confident Leader and we have been working hard to achieve this. The Disability Confident scheme has provided us with a valuable framework to identify what we were already doing well, and find ways to improve how we recruit, retain and develop colleagues with disabilities. Being recognised as a Disability Confident Leader strengthens our resolve to model inclusive employment practices and encourage peers across the sector to do the same.

Ursula Henry, Head of Executive Business Management

The accreditation reflects the progress Federated Hermes Limited has made to build disability inclusion into the foundations of its culture. Alongside strengthening policies and recruitment practices, the firm has broadened its internal support infrastructure, improved digital accessibility across key internal platforms, and invested in training that helps managers identify and remove barriers.

Underpinning the Accreditation

  • Federated Hermes Limited now works with specialist recruitment channels for disabled candidates, and operates a fully accessible recruitment process for applicants who meet the minimum criteria.
  • Colleagues who take part in internal interviewing processes have been trained on inclusive selection practices to ensure assessments do not disadvantage disabled candidates.
  • In 2024, Federated Hermes Limited updated its internal Workplace Adjustments Policy to better support colleagues with disabilities, both visible and invisible, and long-term health conditions. The policy ensures, where possible, colleagues have the necessary accommodations to succeed in their roles.
  • The firm’s Enable Employee Network champions disability inclusion internally. In 2025 the network ran several internal panel discussions and practical teach in briefings for colleagues to learn and champion awareness.
