Hermes expands EOS team in North America

Hermes Investment Management, the £30.8 billion manager, has appointed Tim Youmans as Engagement Director in its stewardship and engagement team, Hermes EOS. Based in New York, Tim will focus on enhancing the activities of Hermes EOS in the North American market and will report to Bruce Duguid, Head of Stewardship, Hermes EOS.

In this role, Tim will be responsible for researching, planning and carrying out corporate, public policy and best practice engagement work in North America. This includes planning and executing voting activities and providing controversial company risk screening services.

Tim joins from the CECP: The CEO Force for Good, a CEO-led coalition that helps companies transform their social strategy. Previously, he was a Research Scholar at Harvard Business School, where he taught and wrote on a number of issues, including economics, corporate governance, corporate sustainability and governance decision control. Tim is a Harvard Kennedy School Lucius N. Littauer Fellow and a Research Fellow of the British Academy’s Future of the Corporation Initiative.

Dr. Hans-Christoph Hirt, Head of Hermes EOS, said: “As stewardship practices become increasingly important across the globe, we remain committed to meeting the expectations and requirements of our clients to engage with their portfolio companies at the highest levels. Tim’s experience and knowledge of corporate best practice and governance are a valuable asset as we continue to grow Hermes EOS’ presence in the market, in support of the new Framework for US Stewardship and Governance, recently launched by US institutional investors.”
