Despite its outsize contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, and the relative cost effectiveness of the solutions proposed to mitigate them, it’s fair to say the construction sector doesn’t always receive the attention it deserves.
Yet this could be about to change. As our latest report shows, a rising global population, technological innovation and increased adoption of building codes in the wake of the Paris Agreement could all herald a transformation in the way the sector addresses its carbon footprint. As ever, the challenge for sustainable investors is to identify not just the companies best placed to drive that change – but also to profitably engage with companies who could do more.
