Federated Hermes has appointed two new hires to its Impact Opportunities team as client demand for sustainable investment solutions continues to surge. Reporting to Ingrid Kukuljan, Head of Impact Investing, Amélie Thévenet and Jordan Patel will be joining the firm’s London office in September and July respectively.

Amélie will be joining the team as a Director with a view to becoming co-portfolio manager on the Federated Hermes Impact Opportunities Fund in due course subject to internal approvals. Amélie will be responsible for making investment decisions, working closely with Ingrid and Martin Todd, co-portfolio manager, to select impactful companies providing solutions to unmet needs in society as represented by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Amélie joins from Jupiter Asset Management where she spent 13 years of her career, most recently as global emerging markets (GEMs) equities fund manager. From 2018, Amélie managed the Jupiter Asian Fund as well as GEMs segregated accounts. She was also responsible for covering healthcare and IT services sectors across global emerging markets, the consumer discretionary sector in Asia, as well as generating investment ideas and monitoring existing positions across the whole GEMs strategy.

Ingrid Kukuljan and Amélie spent nine years working together at Jupiter and therefore have a very close working relationship, sharing the same values and investment philosophy. They both believe in a bottom-up, thematic approach to investing and integrating sustainability factors to create long-term wealth for clients.

Jordan will be joining the team as a senior analyst, providing company-specific and thematic research which will include the analysis of SDG-related themes for incorporation into investment appraisals. He will also actively contribute investment ideas that meet the impact criteria of the strategy.

Jordan joins from Titan Capital Management where he was an equities analyst for three years. He initially covered the global energy, shipping and industrial sectors, and grew his remit to generate a number of successful “ESG leader” investment ideas in themes such as renewables, clean technology and water. Jordan began his investment career at Bernstein where he spent four years and was quickly promoted to Senior Equity Research Associate. During his degrees at both Oxford University and University of College London, Jordan interned at Barclays Capital London and BNP Paribas.

Eoin Murray, Head of Investment at the international business of Federated Hermes said:

“Demand for sustainable investing has been on the rise and we have seen this accelerated further as the pandemic has put the need for sustainable solutions under the spotlight. The addition of Amélie and Jordan to the Impact team firmly bolsters what is an already heavy-weight franchise. Their core beliefs of finding impactful companies to generate long-term wealth is highly aligned with that of our clients and prospects and I am excited to see what this team is able to achieve with this added firepower.”
