The international business of Federated Hermes is taking collaborative action on climate change with its peers and has joined the One Planet Asset Managers (OPAM) initiative.

The OPAM initiative was set up in 2019 by eight founding asset managers to accelerate the understanding of the implications of climate-related risks and opportunities within long-term investment portfolios. This initiative supports members of the One Planet Sovereign Wealth Funds initiative, which formed in 2018 and established a framework made up of three key principles to advance this climate agenda. Since then, the One Planet network has experienced significant momentum and now consists of 43 members with over $36 trillion in AUM and ownership.

Saker Nusseibeh, CBE, CEO at the international business of Federated Hermes, said:

“It is no secret that urgent action is needed to fight the climate crisis. Recognition of the role the investment industry has to play has been an eye-opening and crucial step forwards for many on this journey. The industry is now using its force as a catalyst for change and we are proud to be taking collaborative action with others in joining this vital initiative. Through sharing knowledge on our best-in-class integration and effective engagement with companies and policy makers, we are committed to driving the goals of OPAM forward as much as possible.”
