Federated Hermes, a global leader in active investment management, has expanded its Asia Pacific sales capabilities with the addition of Ryan Christianson as Associate Director in Japan. Based in Tokyo and reporting to Jim Roland, Head of Distribution for Asia Pacific, Christianson is responsible for serving and expanding relationships with institutional clients in the Japanese market.
With over a decade of experience spanning Japan and North America, including time in Boston, New York, and Chicago, Christianson brings a blend of global and Asia Pacific expertise together with deep local knowledge of Japan. He held senior roles at global firms including Columbia Threadneedle Investments, PwC Advisory Services, and S&P Dow Jones Indices, where he advised and provided support to institutional investors on their responsible investment objectives.
Christianson’s appointment marks the continued expansion of Federated Hermes’ presence in Japan, following the hire of Kozo Fujioka, Associate Director of APAC Sales (Japan), in April 2024. Federated Hermes established its Japan office in 2021 to provide greater proximity and insight to Japanese clients. The Tokyo office offers a comprehensive range of equity, fixed income, and private markets solutions for clients such as pension funds and financial institutions, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to serving institutional investors in Japan with global expertise and local support.
