Expanding Retail Access to Asia ex‑Japan Equity Fund in Singapore

Asia ex‑Japan Equity Fund has been recognized by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for retail distribution in Singapore, marking the firm's first strategy to have received retail registration in the APAC region.

Federated Hermes, a global leader in active investing, today announced that the Irish-domiciled UCITS Federated Hermes Asia ex-Japan Equity Fund has been recognized by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for retail distribution in Singapore, marking Federated Hermes Limited’s first strategy to have received retail registration in the APAC region.

Launched in 2012, Federated Hermes Asia ex-Japan Equity Fund seeks to achieve long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in a portfolio of equity and equity-related securities issued by companies in or deriving substantial revenues from emerging countries within the Asia ex-Japan region, including South Korea and China. Built on a contrarian philosophy with a value bias, the Fund selects each holding through bottom-up analysis underpinned by deep fundamental research. It invests in companies that are attractively priced relative to their underlying value, often those temporarily out of favour, and with asymmetric risk/return profiles. The investment approach results in a differentiated portfolio with low correlation to the broader market1.

Managed by Jonathan Pines, Head of Asia ex-Japan and Lead Portfolio Manager, and Sandy Pei, Senior Portfolio Manager, the US$5.5 billion2 Federated Hermes Asia ex-Japan Equity Fund has outperformed its benchmark, the MSCI Asia ex-Japan IMI, over YTD, 1 year, 3 year and 5 years on a gross and net basis3

The Federated Hermes Asia ex-Japan team has been recognized in the industry for its capabilities, receiving AsianInvestor Wealth’s inaugural Asia ex‑Japan Equity Asset Class Award in March 2026, and being named Best Fund Provider for Asia Pacific Equity by Asian Private Banker in 2024 and 2025.

“Receiving retail registration for the Federated Hermes Asia ex‑Japan Equity Fund in Singapore marks an important milestone for our business in the region. The approval allows us to offer the long-standing strategy to a broader pool of investors, including individual investors in Singapore, and strengthens our presence in Asia’s rapidly expanding wealth and retail markets. It also enables us to leverage our existing global bank and wealth management distribution partners, while engaging additional distributors in markets where retail registration is required.

Jim Roland, Head of Distribution for Asia Pacific

Many companies across the region are trading at attractive valuations despite improving fundamentals and ongoing structural reforms. Many stocks remain cheap relative to their growth and quality profile and there are far more pricing inefficiencies than are available in most other markets. Asian equity markets continue to offer a compelling opportunity set for active investors.
